Given the Covid pandemic, MegaFlorestais leaders of Canada, DRC, Mexico, Peru, Sweden, and the USA gathered on February 24 for a webinar on Global Markets in Forest Products.
The purpose of the webinar was to present the latest changes in markets and investments, given all the variables of the last few years, including global trade agreements, regional and national politics, changes in investment strategies, new product development as well as dynamics around supply chains and demand due to COVID.
Thanks to the fascinating interventions of Don Roberts, Nawitka Capital Advisors, and David Brand, New Forests, participants learned about changes in supply and demand of various forest products; disruptions to supply chains and that impact; trade and investment dynamics; and new, emerging market opportunities, given the global (in some places renewed) interest in Climate Change and the much broader focus on net zero emission goals.
Presentations:
- Don Roberts: Global scan of traditional forest product markets, and the emerging bio-economy (also available in Spanish and French)
- David Brand: Trends in the timber industry: an investor perspective with a focus on forests role in mitigating climate change and the investment opportunities this presents (also available in Spanish and French)
Additional resources:
- Don Roberts: Financing the Bio-Economy: Key Factors Affecting the Role of Green Bonds and Financial Institutions (includes audio comments)
- Don Roberts: Biomass Development Zones & Biomass Supply Credit Rating Standards
