Communities, Commerce, and Climate Change: Innovations to Sustain the World’s Forests

The Twelfth meeting of MegaFlorestais will be held in Vancouver and on Quadra island, in British Columbia, Canada, on October 15-20, 2017 and co-hosted by the Canadian Forest Service and the Rights and Resources Initiative, in collaboration with the US Forest Service and the European Forestry Institute.

Topics that will be discussed include:

  • Development in Community Forest Entreprises (CFEs);
  • Keys to Success – Removing Barriers and Enabling CFEs;
  • Indigenous Forestry: Innovation and Strategies to Scale; and
  • Innvoationto Address Climate Change and Governance.

Field trip: Visit around Quadra Island

The group may visit sites such as Elk Falls Provincial Park, an operational Log Sort/Barging Site and a Fire Base to discuss Local Innovations in Forest Governance and how forests can be managed for multiple users groups and purposes.
